What the VeRO list says
3 of 6 lines name a VeRO brand. A saved example: paste your own lines and press Check.
| Your line | VeRO brand |
|---|---|
| Nike Air Max 90 men's running shoes | Nike |
| Stainless steel kitchen utensil set, 12 pieces | Not on the list |
| Ray-Ban Wayfarer sunglasses, polarized | Ray-Ban |
| Cotton bath towels, set of 6 | Not on the list |
| UGG | UGG |
| Ceramic coffee mug, 12 oz | Not on the list |
Clear means the brand is not on our list of 1,150 VeRO brands. eBay says its own list of rights owners is not complete, so a brand that is not on it can still report a listing.
What a flagged line means
In shortThe brand’s owner can report your listing through eBay’s VeRO program. You may still sell the genuine item.
VeRO is eBay’s Verified Rights Owner program. It lets rights owners and their representatives report listings that may infringe their rights. After a report, eBay can remove the listing, warn you, restrict your selling or suspend the account, its intellectual property policy says.
A flagged brand is not a banned brand. Before you list it, check these five things, each from eBay’s policy:
- The item is genuineList it only if you are certain it is genuine and meets the counterfeit item policy. A copy is not allowed, even when it is labeled as a copy.
- The photos and words are yoursTake your own photos and write your own text. Photos or text copied from the brand’s site or another listing can infringe on their own.
- You do not claim to be a dealerName the brand, but do not suggest you are an authorized dealer or reseller if you are not.
- Made for the brand? Say “for”For a case, a part or a refill made to fit a branded product, eBay asks you to put “fits” or “for” before the brand everywhere you mention it.
- The brand’s profile allows itMany rights owners publish a VeRO participant profile in eBay’s Seller Center. It says what they protect and what they ask of sellers.
What a clear line cannot tell you
In shortClear means the brand is not on the list. It does not mean nobody can report the listing.
- The list is not every rights ownereBay’s Seller Center names over 1,100 rights owners with a profile, and says it “isn’t a complete list of all brands with IP rights on eBay”. Not every VeRO member has a profile.
- Anyone with rights can reporteBay’s policy says rights owners can also report a listing with its general reporting tools, outside VeRO.
- Only the words are checkedA logo in a photo, a copied photo or copied text can infringe whatever the title says.
- Spelling countsThe check matches the brand as it is spelled. eBay treats a slightly altered brand name as infringement too, so a near miss is no safer.
How the VeRO check reads each line
In shortIt looks for a brand from the list in whole words, in any case.
A line is flagged when the whole line is a brand on the list, or when a run of its words is. So “nike”, “NIKE” and “Nike Air Max 90 running shoes” all name Nike. A word that only starts the same way, like “Nikes” or “Nikeland”, does not. Commas, brackets and quotes around a brand are ignored, so “Boots (UGG)” names UGG.
When a line holds more than one brand, the longest name wins. The page opens on an example. Only the Check button sends your lines, and nothing you paste is kept.
Common questions
Is there a list of VeRO brands on eBay?
Not a complete one. eBay’s Seller Center lists the VeRO participant profiles that rights owners chose to publish, and says not every VeRO member has one. This checker matches your lines against 1,150 brands.
How do I check if a brand is VeRO on eBay?
Paste it into the checker. Then open the brand’s VeRO participant profile, if it has one, to read what it allows. A brand that is not on any list can still report a listing.
Can I sell a VeRO brand on eBay?
Yes, if the item is genuine and the listing is your own. Use your own photos and words, and do not claim to be an authorized dealer if you are not. The rights owner can still report it.
What happens if I list a VeRO brand?
Nothing, until the rights owner reports the listing. Then eBay can remove it, warn you, restrict your selling or suspend the account. The guide to an eBay VeRO violation shows what to do next.
Is this VeRO checker free?
Yes, with no account. Your lines go to our server for the check and are not saved.
How Productivo helps
In shortVeRO brands, sold-out stock and losing orders, stopped in time.
Checking titles by hand works before you buy stock. In Productivo, every store starts with the same list of VeRO brands, and you add your own brands, keywords and ASINs beside it. A product whose brand matches never goes to eBay, and a check every 15 minutes ends a live listing that starts to match.
Start a free trial to run it on your own products. If eBay has already removed a listing, read what to do after an eBay VeRO violation.
Written by the Productivo team. eBay’s intellectual property (VeRO) policy, counterfeit item policy, Verified Rights Owner program page and VeRO participant profiles, checked 24 October 2026. The example lines are made up; their answers are the real check’s.
