eBay sell-through rate calculator

This free eBay sell-through rate calculator turns eBay’s search counts into three numbers: the sell-through rate, the share of listings that sold, and how many months today’s listings would take to sell.

Find the sell-through rate of any item

In shortOpen eBay’s three searches, type the counts, and read the result.

1. Search eBay for the item

Each button opens eBay.com in a new tab. eBay asks you to sign in for sold and completed items.

2. Type the result counts

The results count of the plain search.

With Sold items ticked: about the last 90 days.

With Completed items ticked: sold and unsold.

What the counts say

38% sell-through: 45 sold in 90 days for 120 listed now. At that pace, today’s listings would take about 8 months to sell.

Sell-through rate Sold ÷ active listings38%
Sold per month Sold in 90 days ÷ 315
Months to sell today’s listings Active ÷ sold per month8
Ended listings that sold Sold ÷ completed, 25 ended unsold64%

eBay publishes no sell-through formula and no good or bad rate. These are plain divisions of eBay’s own search counts, and the example opens on made-up numbers.

What the eBay sell-through rate means

In shortHow many sold, compared with how many are listed. eBay publishes no formula.

The sell-through rate compares the items that sold with the items for sale. A high rate means buyers take what sellers list. A low rate means listings wait.

eBay’s Product Research in Seller Hub shows a sell-through rate for searches of 90 days or less. eBay does not say how it works it out. This eBay sell-through rate calculator uses the simplest version: items sold in 90 days ÷ active listings now.

The example shows 45 sold and 120 listed. That is a 38% sell-through rate.

Read the rate with two more numbers

In shortHow long today’s listings would take to sell, and how many ended listings sold.

  • Months to sell today’s listingsActive listings ÷ items sold per month. In the example, 15 sell a month, so today’s 120 listings would take about 8 months. Your listing joins that line. Price, photos and item specifics decide where.
  • Ended listings that soldSold ÷ completed. In the example, 45 of 70 ended listings sold: 64%. The other 25 ended without a buyer. Their asking prices show what buyers would not pay.

The months figure is our rule of thumb, not eBay’s. Use it to compare items with each other, with the same search and the same 90 days.

How to get the counts on eBay

In shortSearch like a buyer, then tick Sold items and Completed items in turn.

  1. Search eBay.com for the item, the way a buyer would. Note the number of results: that is Active listings.
  2. Tick Sold items under Show only. eBay asks you to sign in. Note the results: about 90 days of sales.
  3. Tick Completed items instead. It counts every listing that ended, sold or not.
  4. Keep the same words and filters each time. Condition, Buy It Now and location change the counts.

The calculator’s buttons open the three searches for you. The guide to eBay sold listings shows each filter step by step, with eBay’s Advanced Search.

What it cannot tell you

In shortIt divides eBay’s counts. It cannot see why an item sold.

  • Only 90 daysSold items goes back about 90 days. Terapeak (eBay’s Product Research) shows longer history.
  • Not eBay’s own figureProduct Research may show a different sell-through rate for the same search.
  • No good or bad lineeBay names no good rate. Compare items you are choosing between.

Common questions

How do you calculate sell-through rate on eBay?

Divide the items sold in 90 days by the active listings. Count both with the same search. The calculator does the division and adds two more numbers.

What is a good sell-through rate on eBay?

eBay does not name one. Compare the items you are choosing between, with the same search and dates. Then check the months to sell today’s listings.

Why is the sell-through rate over 100%?

More sold in 90 days than are listed now. Buyers take items faster than sellers list them. That is a sign of demand, not a percent chance.

Where does eBay show sell-through rate?

In Product Research, in Seller Hub. eBay shows it for searches of 90 days or less. The guide to Terapeak shows where to find it.

Is this calculator free?

Yes, with no account. It runs in your browser. Nothing you type is sent or saved.

How Productivo helps

In shortReview eBay sales observations, source matches and estimated costs.

Checking counts by hand works for a few items. Productivo’s Product Scanner (Pro and Scale plans) reviews many eBay items at once, with each listing’s sold count and estimated costs. Its sold count is the listing’s all-time total, not 90 days.

To check demand and costs before you buy stock, read the guide to eBay product research.
